School Meals

A split lunch system is in operation. Year 7, 8 and 11 have their lunch between 12.15pm and 1:00 pm. Years 9, 10, 12 and 13 have their lunch between 1.15pm and 2.00pm.

We operate a cashless system using fingerprint scanning technology. At the till the student's fingerprint is scanned and the money deducted from their account.

Breakfast options, including free bagels, are available to all students before 8:30am and for students in Years 10, 11, 12, and 13, a variety of snacks and baked goods are available to purchase during breaktime.

We encourage all students to stay hydrated during the school day. Several water fountains are available throughout the school, and we ask that students bring a reusable water bottle with them each day.

Free School Meals from September 2026

All children in families receiving Universal Credit will be entitled to Free School Meals (FSM). There will be two types of Free School Meal support based on household income:

  1. Targeted Free School Meals - for families receiving Universal Credit with a household income of £7,400 or less per year. Children in this group will:
  • Receive a free school meal each school day.
  • Continue to access additional support, such as extended school travel assistance (where eligible).
  1. Expanded Free School Meals - for families receiving Universal Credit with a household income above £7,400 per year. Children in this group will:
  • Receive a free school meal each school day.
  • Continue to receive any existing extended school travel assistance during the 2026/27 academic year.

Who Can Apply?

Children may qualify for Free School Meals if they, or their parent/carer, receive:

  • Universal Credit
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Families may also be eligible if they receive:

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • The Guarantee Credit element of Pension Credit
  • Support under the government's No Recourse to Public Funds criteria

Important

A child can only receive Free School Meals if:

  • An application has been submitted, and
  • Their eligibility has been confirmed by the school or local authority.

Universal Infant Free School Meals

ALL Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 pupils will continue to receive free school meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme, regardless of family circumstances.
