“The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve”. - Mark 10:45
At St. Joseph’s we are passionate about students undertaking liturgical ministry and we are especially proud of our fabulous team of amazing Altar Servers. These students volunteer to serve at weekly Parish Masses and whole house or year group Masses throughout the year, including the annual staff commissioning Mass during their school holidays.
Students truly enjoy serving the altar and playing an integral part of parish and school life leading our Collective Worship.
As part of their ministry we run student-led formation sessions for students to undergo liturgical training to support them in this ministry. This course walks students practically through the theological and practical demands of serving the Altar and supports them to lead with confidence and enthusiasm. Students then receive a commissioning and formation certificate for doing so.
We currently have 9 regular Altar servers. If anyone would like to join us please see Mr. Young for more details.
