Over lunch break students have the opportunity to access a range of clubs and activities including choir practices, ICT, reading and active sport clubs. Extra work or projects can be undertaken during this time in most subject areas.
We run numerous sporting activities and additional coaching is offered by community-based clubs and other suitably qualified teaching staff. The school enters teams in the South Tyneside Leagues and all students attending the practices have the opportunity to represent the school in their year group. The teams are also entered into the South Tyneside Schools Tournaments which take place at the end of the season.
The current academic year has been an incredibly successful year for school sport at St Joseph’s. We are currently South Tyneside Champions across a range of age groups in a number of sporting activities and have achieved countywide success across various sports and national success particularly in our Under 13 girls football team who were recently crowned National Champions at Wembley stadium!
A variety of clubs operate including performing arts, music, chess, maths, history and sport.
Our students also have the opportunity to become involved in a range of national and international schemes such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme and the Pope John Paul II Award scheme.
