Muckle Solicitors Talk to Year 12 Law Students
Mr. Mather and the Year 12 Law students were delighted to virtually welcome Olivia Tindle, a trainee solicitor from Muckle LLP in Newcastle to tell us about her role as a solicitor and give valuable advice on how to achieve a career in the law.
Olivia firstly informed everyone of her background, studying Geography at university before doing her legal training as well as taking a gap year and being employed in various roles such as accountancy. It’s really valuable for students to see the many varied ways into the legal profession, not just via a law degree. Olivia also explained the many different roles in the profession as well as the routes into those roles.
Olivia explained the work that Muckle do from their base in Newcastle and it really is wide-ranging but the key is making clients want to use your services again. Finally, Olivia gave some extremely valuable advice to students on how to get into the legal profession and said that it isn’t just legal work experience that is important but life experience more generally. Taking advantage of opportunities when they arise is really important to become a more rounded individual and increase the quality of a CV!
Emma Hubble from Year 12 said “the talk was very informative and interesting and helped broaden my knowledge of the legal system and the jobs within it.”
Daniel Vaughan from Year 12 said “the talk was very illuminating and helped me open up to future career prospects.”
Mr. Mather and all the Law students would like to thank Olivia for her valuable time in speaking to us and wish her all the very best for the rest of her training contract.
