On Friday 30th June we were blessed with a visit from Jaswinder Singh, who is a member of the Sikh community and the Sikh chaplain for the RVI hospital and Northumbria and Newcastle Universities.
Jaswinder came to talk to some of our Year 9 students as part of their RE course as they are currently studying Sikhism. Jaswinder explored the origins of Sikhism, the philosophy of Guru Nanak who is the leader of Sikhism and explored how he lives out his Sikh faith.
We explored the importance of equality, compassion and service to others. Jaswinder discussed the 5Ks of Sikhism which all Sikhs must wear and explored his beliefs about life after death. We are really grateful to Jaswinder for his time and dedication for our students.
