GCSE Results

21st August 2020

The staff and governors at St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy would like to congratulate all our Year 11 students on their excellent GCSE results. We are delighted that their hard work, determination and commitment have been rewarded – we are very proud of them. Almost 25% of all grades were at grade 7 or better and more than 80% of grades were at a standard pass or higher. 76% of students achieved a grade 4+ in English and Maths, with 56% achieving a grade 5+.

This has been a year like no other with our students having endured and overcome a very challenging period in their lives. We welcome the government’s decision to award pupils with their Centre Assessed Grades (CAGs) for both GCSE’s and A-levels. The CAGs have been subject to a robust and rigorous standardisation process and provide a much better reflection of the ability of the students than a mathematical algorithm.

We wish all our students well as they progress onto their chosen next steps including staying on into sixth form, continuing with their education elsewhere or taking up an apprenticeship and training. I would also like to thank the families of our students who have supported them during this very difficult time.
