Collective Worship: Hilda House Sixth Formers plan and lead their own Celebration of the Word services during Advent
During our journey through Advent, Year 13s in Hilda House have been working hard as form group families to plan, organise and lead their very own Celebration of the Word services in their tutor rooms. Students have had preparation sessions and then have been given complete ownership of how they gather, the Word they listen to, the way they reflect and the mission they go forth with.
Services have been profound including powerful music, engaging readings of the Gospel, fun and interactive reflections and prayer including silent reflections, prayer snowballs and even Just Dance challenges led by students and deeply powerful personal reflections upon who they love and feel blessed to have in their lives.
At St. Joseph’s we believe that students should be at the forefront of planning their own worship, whether that be in Celebrations of the Word or the Masses which they celebrate and we believe that students across the key stage spectrum should have the opportunity to be moved by their experiences of worship. Thank you to all those who have worked so hard to plan and organise these fantastic expressions of Collective Worship.
God bless and happy Advent.
