At St. Joseph’s we are passionate about living out Catholic Social Teaching by doing all we can to ‘love thy neighbour’ through bringing light and love to those in the greatest need.
This Advent we are asking students in years 7 and 12 in tutor groups to create Christmas Care Parcels for the elderly and housebound parishioners in our parish. We are also asking students in years 8, 9, 10, 11 and 13 to create food parcels to be donated to our amazing local foodbank Hebburn Helps to support those in great need at this time.
All donations to be sent into tutor groups and these will be delivered the week of the 18th December. Students in year 8 are also living out Catholic Social Teaching by taking part in the ‘Parable of the talents’ challenge. This has involved each tutor group being given £5.00 and having to use it to make a positive difference in their community by planning a charity event of their choice for a charity of their choice.
So far we have had sports events, bake sales, singing competitions, raffles and tombola’s. Students have been exceptional leading their charity challenge and have chosen to support charities ranging from Hebburn Helps, Brysons animal shelter, Cancer Connections and the Alan Shearer Foundation.
We are truly proud of you all.
God bless and let your light shine.
