We were delighted to invite former student Robert Reed into school to judge our door decorating competition this year. Students had embraced the theme of ‘books that inspire young people to be better’ in their creative designs and we felt that Robert, and has inspiring journey from our corridors to the big stage, was the ideal guest judge. A panel of students also had the opportunity to join Robert for a question and answer session during his visit, where he wowed them with his slight of hand magic and inspired them with some top tips and encouragement to pursue their passions and use their talents.
Meet the Guest Judge
Robert Reed, the 23 year old comedy magician from South Shields, has already achieved so much in his young career. The former St. Joseph’s student has experienced his fair share of success since his school days, and he’s only just getting started. He has even gone on to perform for, and been hired by, many famous faces over recent years.
From sporting legends such as Usain Bolt, Martina Navratilova and the Harlem Globetrotters, to TV chefs such as Nigella Lawson and Gordon Ramsay. From music superstars like Mick Jagger, Lily Allen and Rod Stewart, to comedy heroes such as Michael McIntyre and Ricky Gervais – Robert certainly mixes with the right circles and has an impressive phone book.
Within the entertainment industry, Robert is highly regarded as one of the most creative individuals in the worlds of both comedy and magic. Having wrote comedic material for TV shows such as 8 Out of 10 Cats and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, to name just a few, he has also worked as a magic consultant on Britain’s Got Talent, and designs big stage illusions for some of the most recognisable names in magic.
In the summer, Robert’s first solo UK tour shall resume schedule, where he will be seen performing in 70 different towns and cities up and down the country. So it’s safe to say that Robert’s future is looking very bright and he certainly is a one to keep an eye out for.

9A1 – Alice in Wonderland
7C2 – The Chronicles of Narnia
A huge congratulations to this year’s winners, 7D2 – The Harry Potter Series.
