Mr. Mather, Head of Law and Politics, and the Year 13 Law students were delighted to welcome to St Joseph’s, Claire Pearce, Legal Apprenticeship Manager at Clifford Chance, and former students, Dan Maddison and Meg Herring, who are both paralegals at the firm. Clifford Chance is a magic circle law firm meaning it is one of the top 5 firms in the world. It has offices all over the world, but they also have an office in Gosforth where Claire, Dan and Meg are based.
Claire presented to the students the opportunity of a paralegal apprenticeship at Clifford Chance to start in September. She explained what the apprenticeship entails, what paralegals do and the benefits of a career at the firm. It is a certainly a very exciting prospect for students to take on an apprenticeship like this.
Dan (St Joseph’s 2010-2017 and former A Level Law student) and Meg (St Joseph’s 2014-16 and former A Level Law student) shared their experiences of the apprenticeship and the work they are currently doing. We are extremely proud to hear of our alumni doing so well in their careers!
Students learned about the wide-ranging work that Clifford Chance carry out, from representing some of the biggest companies in the world, to representing celebrities and football clubs. Deciphering which documents are relevant to a case for disclosure, drafting NDAs, redacting documents and working day to day with solicitors are just some of the tasks that paralegals carry out in their role.
Mr. Mather and the Law students would like to thank Claire, Dan and Meg once again for giving up their time to visit us and we are very much looking forward to working with them again in the future.
