St. Joseph’s Dance leaders recently led four impactful 1-hour sessions with students from St. James School, exploring mental health, emotions, and coping strategies through dance. The series was carefully planned to provide students with a safe space to express themselves, understand their emotions, and learn new ways of managing stress through movement.
Each session focused on different aspects of emotional expression, student led choreography, set routines, and techniques for emotional release through dance. The St. Joseph’s Dance leaders demonstrated excellent leadership from planning to delivery, creating an inclusive environment that encouraged participation and openness. They taught students how to use dance as a coping strategy, offering tools like deep breathing with movement to calm the mind and energetic routines to release tension.
The success of the workshops highlighted the power of dance as a tool for emotional well-being. St. Joseph’s Dance leaders not only showcased strong leadership skills but also made a lasting impact on the students by promoting emotional health through movement. The PE department are very proud of their commitment to the sessions and professionalism towards the younger students.
