Last Friday 13th December, our Year 13 Philosophy and Ethics class enjoyed a talk from Wendy Grey.
Wendy has been coming to speak to our KS3 classes for some years now, but this was her first time presenting to sixth form at St Joseph’s. Wendy is a physicist and practising Buddhist and gave our students a very interesting presentation about her views on science and religion and Buddhism as a lived faith. The class are studying a Life After Death philosophy module at present, so were keen to hear Wendy’s beliefs about what might continue after death and Buddhist views on the illusion of an individual self, which is very different to Western philosophies and worldviews about the soul. The students asked interesting questions about the Big Bang theory and the nature of karma and will find it useful not only for their study of Life After Death but also Science and Religion in the Spring Term.
