On Wednesday 8th November, students in Year 7 were off timetable for a Catholic Life and Mission in-school retreat. The theme of our retreat was ‘Love your #SELFIE: You are significant’ which reflected upon Fr. Dermott Donnelly’s teachings that everyone is made in God’s image, is made significant and is called to live a life of significance.
During the day, students engaged in musical praise, drama, freeze frames, faith challenges, silent reflection and even created Significant prayer planes and significance towers. We also reflected upon the examples of Hayley Okines and Nic Vujicic and looked at how we can all ‘live life to the full’. Students were also challenged to create their own significant dance moves to a Christian version of Gangnam style and ‘what did the fox say’.
At St. Joseph’s we are always passionate about ensuring that students receive regular opportunities to grow spiritual, reflect on their faith and put faith into action and our retreat programme is just one of the ways in which we do that. Thank you for the phenomenally talented students for being open, really engaged and passionate about their faith and thank you to Mrs. McEwan for leading us in worship and also some awesome dance moves!
